MISSION

The Philippine American Dialogue and Discourse (PADD) group at the University of Washington is dedicated first and foremost to cultural, political, and historical awareness and the building of community for accountable collective action.

From the economic consequences of working abroad to contemporary political and social crises in the homeland, from tracing the history of subversion and revolution to the problems of engendered nationalism, from colonialism to environmental concerns, from the well-tread EDSA overpass of Manila to the brick walkways of UW's Red Square, the goal of the UW PADD group is to provide a site for discussion, exchange, and education— a curriculum that cuts across multiple disciplines and fields.

PADD is about mapping the covert relationships of power between the Philippines and the United States, and trying to untangle the web of histories and memories.
